What Is a Dog Guardianship Program?
A dog guardianship program allows a family to raise a doodle as their own pet while partnering with a breeder for a limited breeding period. At Daisy’s Delightful Doodles, our guardianship program helps us raise healthy, well-socialized dogs in loving family homes.
Guardian families receive a high-quality doodle at a highly reduced cost, and once the dog’s breeding commitment is complete, full ownership is transferred to the family.
How Guardianship Works
A guardian dog lives full-time with their guardian family as a cherished companion. During the breeding years, Daisy’s Delightful Doodles retains breeding rights and covers all breeding-related veterinary costs, including health testing and reproductive care.
Once the dog completes their role in our breeding program, they are spayed or neutered at our expense, and the guardian family becomes the full legal owner.
Guardian Family Responsibilities
Guardian families agree to:
- Provide a loving, stable home
- Maintain basic training and socialization
- Provide routine veterinary care and quality nutrition
- Live within a reasonable distance of our program
- Communicate openly during breeding periods
Female guardian dogs may stay with us briefly during whelping, or may have appointments for breeding. Male guardian dogs may visit for short breeding appointments.
